Leila Rose ‘Out of uniform-pink day’
Last week on Friday the 14th of August students as well as teachers were encouraged to wear pink and bring a gold coin donation to school. As a result $300 was donated to the Leila Rose Foundation, a project set-up to create awareness and support for children with rare cancer. The foundation was created by the parents of Leila, a girl unfortunately diagnosed with one of the rare forms of cancer. After Leila’s passing in 2011 aged only 22 months, the project has since escalated beyond Warrnambool and its surrounding districts.
Warrnambool’s local morning FM radio hosts Matty Stewart and Matty Monk created the Leila Rose ‘All-star football game’ held last Sunday the 16th of August in contribution to the foundation. This involved teams created from Ex-AFL stars as well as Warrnambool locals with Jordan Lewis and Mick Malthouse coaching their selective teams. Over $80,000 was raised from this event.
