Ted also spoke passionately about how his education at Mortlake College had benefited his learning and career aspirations. He encouraged students to set goals and make the most of their small school opportunities and 'real life' learning experiences in their home town before setting off to explore the wider world. Most importantly, he warned students of the importance of completing Year 12 and the necessity of an education in a dwindling job market.
Members of the Senior Leadership Team spoke about their particular roles in the school and House Captains and Bus Captains were presented with their badges and certificates.School Captains Stacey Shalders and Charmarelle McCarroll spoke about the leadership team's goal of working toward fundraising for Peter's Project this year and the need for all students to work together. Charmarelle reiterated Ted's words about goal setting with a quote from Zig Zig Zigar, "people often say that motivation doesn’t last. Well neither does bathing, that is why we recommend it daily".
The Year 12 class introduced the Prep class to the assembly and, as always, we discovered some interesting future careers amongst our youngest students. When asked what they wanted to be when they grew up, answers included, Spiderman and the Tooth Fairy!
